I'm doing some rewireing of the phone wires in my home.I have the main line coming from outside to a box, then from a bix it goes into my basement to thies wierd looking black boxish thing, with 4 terminals on it.I'm ditching the phone lines upstairs, and I'm going to have 2 lines total: one going to the living room, and one to the kitchen.Right now I have the original, 53 year old, round phone wire, not even in the walls, it's stapled along the molding, and going to those dumb little boxes with the plug on the bottom. I got 2 new outlets. For cabling, I heard Cat5 will be better/cleaner than standard phone cable. Is this true? If so, what kind of cat5 should I get (5, 5e, 6, ect)Any tricks to hooking it up? (specific colored wires to use, ect)
Any help will be apprecited.
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
